I have heard roosters crowing so my guess is the local office was incorrect when saying that these types of birds cannot be kept. Also around the corner a gent has doves in an outside cage. I can find no ordinances online. Does anyone know where i can find actual legit info (or maybe are local and know themselves) if I can keep chickens? These would be for eggs, not meat. Thank you

If you look up the number to the local animal control office in your area they should be able to tell you.

I wouldn't ask animal control. Call the zoning office for your area (whether it be town, county, etc.) or if your town/county has a good website, the info should be on there. You will need to find out if poultry are permitted and if they are, what are restrictions on housing. Also if you live in an HOA that'd be the first hurdle to get over.
