pile of feathers

Better to ask and learn than worry... I'm sure others have read this and probably learnt something also.

When your new to keeping chickens, it can be a worry when you haven't seen this sort of thing happening before

I knew one lady who said she had just purchased 20 new birds as her last ones lost all their feathers and she didn't know what sort of disease they had so she culled the all.

Well that's why I'm asking... and that's why I love this forum

Mine do this too!! At 9 weeks they get lots of protein in the grower pellets and their daily oatmeal when i have mine but the feather eating almost seems to be a game of "keep away" from the other girls. The one with the feather runs about being chased by the other ladies as she runs she goobles up the feather to keep the others from getting it. The winner usually, but not always, spits out the feather and they all go back to sleeping eating the grower pellets and pooping a lot. I personally think their just crazy chickens and warn the 2 cats in the house that they will get eaten if they bother them
