We have some low spots in our yard that flood when we get a ton of rain.... would it be beneficial to spread the pine flakes over the low spots to fill it in and eventually turn to dirt?

I don't intentionally spread pine shavings, but my ducks and some of the chickens like to kick massive amounts of shavings out of the coops. It does help a bit with the standing water, but I'm not sure it's the best option.

I agree, wood chips would be better than shavings.

Unfortunately, there is nothing that really solves bad drainage except to dig diversion ditches, install French drains, and/or have the land re-graded.

We're having to have this done with some our our land. It's a bit of a financial ouch, but better than throwing smaller amounts of money at a problem without ever actually solving it. :)
