The woman at Greens Feed here in Sparks has her baby Ameriucanas on mini Pet shavings. So that it what I purchased for my chicks. Now I am terrified to use them. So I went to a pet store and got Pine shavings but they only had the small ones. Am I okay with the small pine shavings? There are so many contradictions. Help

I don't think you need to be terrified of them, a lot of people use the fine shavings, but larger ones are better. The have less dust for them to breathe, aren't as tempting to eat and provide better grip for their wee little feet.

I guess the large ones are better, I will go with Pine. I have a small bag that came with the brooder. I used half of it today. I think it will last until next weekend until I can get some more. Thank you. I guess I don't have to get hysterical over it. I mean after all ... chickens have been managing for centuries without our help. I sometimes forget that they are Farm animals.
