Pine or Cedar bedding

Marcus, I used pine shavings for a long while. I have also used bedding pellets and sand. My current bedding (the winner after years of trial and error), is chopped forage, which I get at the feed store. This is chopped hay, treated with glycerin to eliminate the dust. Lasts a long time, smells good, absorbs well, the chickens love it. I love it. And sometimes I sneak some to my old mare for a treat (she loves it too). I pay around $13.00 a bale, and one bale will take me through about 2-3 months in my coop (15-20 hens)

Some photos of the bedding - this is about a month old. I scoop the poop from under the corner roosts
one a week or so, and toss the bedding. Every few weeks I add 1/3 of a bag or so as needed.
