Pine Shaving Addiction

We have two three week old ducks, and one of them is fixated on eating the pine shavings. Not just snuffling... eating. He seems less interested in the starter food than he is in eating his bedding. I want to make sure he is eating a balanced diet. What should I do?

Almost all of mine were in love with eating their shavings. I just made sure they also had grit available and let them have at it. No one has been the worse for it as far as I can see. And it never seemed to prevent them from gobbling up their feed, either.
