Pine shaving party

To help keep the shavings out of the water (and feed), raise the waterer until it is about even with their backs, then keep raising it as they get bigger. You can use 2x4 blocks or anything else that is flat.

If they still can fling litter into the water, put it on a platform with blocks so they can hop up to get to the water.

XDDDD This sounds SOOOOOO fermiliar!!

On day 2, the chicks found the "Crittercare" bedding by nuzzling under the paper towels, and it was CRAZY! I tried to keep them from eating it, but they just played a game of 'keep away fromt he big scary hand'.

Yesterday I was complaining about how every time I filled the pie-tin-excuse-of-a-feeder, the chicks would scratch till at LEAST half of it was in the litter, and THEN eat it o.o; So I came home to find my mom had RElaid the paper towels (and must clean them every 2 minutes or she'll die) and used the feeder with the paint on it (X.X) and the chickies look like they're bored to tears. AH!!!

For the water, I actually put two bricks down on the bottom of the box and put the waterer on top of that, the chicks can hop up on to the brick to drink the water. I havent had any problems. I am also using wood pellets from the co-op store, its worked really well, they love playing in it!

Today was my first time putting the shavings in, and within a minute of it being in there, both the feeder and water bowl was filled with the shavings.

They love to wrestle around in it, but now I have to make some sort of platform for their bowls
