where can I buy pine shavings? Feed store?

You can get them at a feedstore, yes, but can also find pine bedding at a regular ol' pet store or Walmart

The cheapest is free, and if you live near a custom cabinet maker, rustic furniture maker, sawmill, lumber mill, etc you might be able to persuade the owners to "let you take away their waste." That is what I do- free shavings for life according to the owner of a local rustic furniture company. They normally pay to dispose of it, so I'm doing them a favor!
