I have heard that pine shavings makes a nice bedding for ducks. Is this true? Will it harm my ducks if they eat the shavings?

cedar oils cause liver or kidney damage to animals kept on them.I use pine and cedar chips all the time. I have a sawmill and I work all my wood up from local trees. All my shavings I get from the planer go to the animals. No harm has ever come to any of them.
