Pink Egg Project

It's been a while since you've updated us on your project. I am excited to learn how it's going. How did the girls take to their new digs?
They seem pretty comfortable although they would rather be free ranging. Here is some progress finally worthy of showing off

sort of .. .

They already withstood a bad storm we recently had w 70 mph wind gusts

Not selling yet. I do have a pretty consistent egg color being laid now w the occasional brown egger. I might sell some next time I hatch but I can't guarantee the pink eggs. I will hatch some more when the weather gets better.

Do you have any pictures of the egg color so far? Kern

Can't wait to see what hatches...this is exciting!

What birds are these from again?.......I guess I could delve back thru the thread.....
After a few requests from fellow BYC'ers to receive fertile eggs from my L. Brahma who lays the pink egg pictured, I started the Pink Egg Project (named by one of the requesters). I got two RIR/EE cross cocks from my neighbor (eggs which I hatched out for him in my bator) to use for the project. For hens I selected my L. Brahma, a RIR/EE cross hen and an EE cross hen who both also lay pink eggs (although not as brilliant as the L. Brahma's). I also wanted to expand my EE flock so I chose three EE hens to breed (Snipped for brevity) Neither of the cocks were hatched from pink eggs but the cross RIR/EE seem to be common for them (my experience). I will take a cock that hatches from the pink eggs and breed back to the pink egg layers. (More snipping)
