Does anyone know what causes pink eye in goat or sheep? I have a minature pygmy goat and he had pink eye a few weeks ago and I used medication and it was totally clear. Now he has pink eye in the other eye. What causes pink eye? He is in an area by himself with no other animals. I keep his water and food troughs clean. What causes pink eye? How can I prevent this in the future? Thanks

It's chlamydia, and is spread a number of ways, including flies. If you have more than one animal, please treat the whole herd. This can cause abortions in does if you breed.

I only have 1 goat and he is contained in a different area on the property. BUT......... my ram (sheep) goes over to his living quarters and sticks his head thru the wire panels and rubs his head against the goat's head. I guess he could get infected as well. Should I treat my ram as well? I also have 4 other female sheep. What should I do about them? They do have any contact with the infected goat. Any suggestions?

Thank you very much for the information. I will pick up the LA200 at the feed store in the morning. I had used terramycin before but will try the LA200.. Thanks for all of our help and the google search. I appreciate our time.
