Pinless Peeper/Poultry Blinders?

I'm curious about this too.
Anybody have a step by step picture guide to pinless peepers?

No picture guide, but I can tell you I prepare the peeper first so I can pick it up with one hand using the pliers. I then hold the chicken under my arm and hold it's head still with my left hand. Their neck is not strong, so this works well. I then spread the peeper with the pliers and hold it in place until I release it into the nostrils.

Googley-guy (aka Dr. Doorlock), how do you hold the chicken's head? It sounds like you hold it from behind; how does this work out with where you place your fingers with regard to the eardrums? Thanks for this help.

Was I in danger of hurting their ears? If I had known that, I would have beem afraid to hold their head. I had there neck gently in the palm of my hand while their body was tucked under my arm like a football. I held the head between index finger and thumb. It did take some coordination to use strength on the lpliers with my right hand while I held them firm and gentle. You might want to practice holding them before you attempt the application because they do try to shy away as the pliers get near their beek.

Remember, anything is easier if you know it must and will be done.

Has anyone put these on before? I have 3 girls that are bullies and after reading some threads on them I purchased some and alos a snap ring Plier. I have no idea how to put them on!! Also on the pliers there are 3-4 different attachements. Which do I use. I'm afraid of hurting my girls

I'm not sure how the pliers are used but I'm sure if you experiement a little (without the chicken) it will make sense. I put them on by hand, myself; the secret there is to drop the peepers in nice hot water first (almost boiling; hotter than tap water) to make them pliable enough to spread readily (they don't stay hot so won't burn the nostrils).

yikes, and where do they go in their nostrils...does it hurt them?

What are they used for? DO they interfere with their breathing?

We just put some on this fall and they do not hurt them, nor do they prevent them from eating, drinking, etc. Chickens only have two nostrils so put them in the hole and they will stay. All we did was put them in a cup of hot water to soften them, hubby held them and I put them on with my bare hands. Wasn't anything to it and only one hen was offended, but she got over it when we put her down. They are really simple, just take your cup of hot water and peepers out there and try it. Hubby didn't even hold their heads, just their bodies to keep them from flapping.
