pinless peepers

My blue wyandotte is such a bully. i have most of my other 10 girls wearing coats to protect them from her pecks. I've tried isolating her before but she has never relinquished her throne!

Has anyone used pinless peepers. are they humane, do they hurt, do they bother them? I don't want to do anything that will do anything to my girl. She's a beauty, just mean

Yes, I have used clip on peepers from eggcartons.com on several bullies in my flock with very good results. I would recommend them to anyone with bullies or feather pluckers.

I figure they are more humane than culling or the peepers with pins. It does seem to bother them at first but no, it doesn't hurt them. Within 24 hours the peepered girls were eating and drinking and within a couple of days they seemed thoroughly used to them. They would even try to keep picking on the new comer, but since the peepers prevent them from seeing the end of their beak they rarely made contact and gave up. I left them on they a couple of months and then removed them. If you have a very determined bully you might need to leave them on longer or just leave them on.

do you need the pliers to put them on?

do they fit in the nostrils? if so how do they breath?

There is a BYCer that has used these extensively. I think they even went so far as to paint "eyes" on the peepers.

I believe these were plastic but do not hold me to this.

ha ha thanks, me too, In fact when I look over the last week of my holiday vacation i realize I've spent more hours on BYC than doing anything else....but I do love my girls, Happy new year and thanks
