Really sad one of the eggs pipped 48 hrs early. We were out all day and so checked when I got home. There was a hole int he membrane and it was dead. Way too early and when DH opened it the egg sack was still full. It had been dead for a number of hours? Why????? We have sooo been careful with these as the momma got eaten by a fox. There were only 5 eggs... Got two hatched a month back this is the second lot from the lady who owned the momma. This morning there is another pip but it is better timing? Was it an accident it pierced the membrane too soon???? Last month one of the babies came 24 hrs early and couldn't wait to get into the world? That one is running about the yard now. DH thinks the temp may have been too hot this time. IT spiked to 40 + twice but most of the time it was 37.5 I am a wee bit worried about these last two eggs?

Thanks - I have only hatched two ducklings so far and have never had them before... I put the other two eggs under a broody hen for the first few weeks. Then I was given these last three eggs to "see if I could do anything with them" -lol Like I know what I am doing!!!!! So Here we go for the repeat! Must say I never thought anything could smell worse than chicks!!!! - The ducklings were ugh! And they got bathed 3 times a day! I hope these two eggs hatch as I don't like lonely birds - x
