Ok so let me just say that this incubation of my Pekin eggs has been smooth sailing until
1. my dog stole and egg and dropped it cracking it
2. I now have an early pip on the wrong end with blood under the shell. All is will with this egg now. Made nice big pip on its own

Cam link that will be active for awhile and then again on friday afternoon. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/emmalion

I was getting them ready for lockdown which is supposed to be tomorrow but not anymore! I had to dewax my broken egg which I cannot believe is still kicking and is soon to hatch. But while I had that egg out I decided to check the air cells and place them accordingly and was planning on hand turning tonight one last time and locking them down before bed. I have to go to work for 2 days starting tomorrow so I wanted to get everything done.

But putting the last egg down I noticed the discoloration on the egg and then I noticed that it was cracked. A pip? I am totally stressing right now over that poor duckling and I really do hope it gets out.

Is there anything I can do, obviously I cannot help it seeing there is still veins in there and it caught one. But position or anything that you might think would help?

Thanks for looking.

Edited for spelling because I am cool like that.

Yes yes and I just checked on it again and it has a full external pip now.

I placed it so that end up higher up that the other and left it at that. You can see the baby her name shall be Isis moving her little beak under the flap and lifting it up at times.

No more blood to be seen. Guess she must of done it awhile ago. Poor thing but it is good that I have been keeping the humidity up to 50% now its 77%

Great. Since the egg isn't "leaking" blood, I would think that the membrane just got bruised and the shell had enough pressure to stop the bleeding. That's a tough little duck!

I hope she can make it out of the small end. She does seem determined to be first!

I candled my other eggs to place the air cells right when laying them down and some looked to have internal pips as well. Even my cracked one I just got the wax off of.

Still can't believe all 5 of my shipped eggs have made it to lock down.

Yep, I'm expecting 15 of 16 shipped all the way from Tennessee. All air cells intact.
The only quitter was one with a micro-crack.

Sometimes I have problems with chickens eggs shipped from SoCal. That should be a quick easy trip....

You never know!

I'm in So cal and every egg I've gotten shipped to me this year has had bad air cells. It's not my post office but somewhere near here must be the problem. Doesn't matter how they're marked or packed. I've gotten three to hatch out of three dozen so far.
