Pip on wrong end

I just wanted to update. The chick is doing great and is the most active chick I’ve ever had. I ended up having 2 pip the wrong end and 2 correct out of the 4 that hatched. Wanted to share a bit on their incubation in case anyone was wondering. On 2 separate occasions we lost power during lockdown so the temperature went below 90 for several hours while I was at work. There were several that didn’t hatch that were alive when candled on day 18 and I think the temperature really had an impact on this hatch. Also the 2 that were pipped wrong are huge chicks and so much bigger than the 2 that pipped correctly. I did a dry incubation this time and next time I think I’ll adjust and run the humidity just a smidge higher at lockdown.

Yellow is EExEE
Black/yellow are AustralorpxEE
Bantam is Polishx? EE or BBR OEGB
Was hoping the polish would get the pouf but I don’t think it did. We lost our beloved candy corn polish to an opossum and this was her last egg we had.

I know a lot of people worry about chicks that are assisted to hatch not doing well, but I wanted to update that they are doing great. I brood a little differently and move chicks to an outside brooder at 2 weeks where they have heat in the coop but can also go outside in a safe run (right now it’s in the 60’s during the day and 30-40s at night) and they’re doing fabulous. They spend most of their time outside happy as can be. They also love their brooder mates (ducklings). And one of my roosters sits by their coop all day to watch over them! Little yellow chick already has a huge red comb-please be a nice roo-fingers crossed.
