Oh darn. I popped in here earlier to see if I missed any updates.
You must be keeping pretty busy. How is the soap making?

Yeah, a bit! I've spent a lot of my time recently just looking at lost cat postings. I still feel a bit uneasy about accepting that Casper was just dumped and that any potential previous owner is not looking for him, but all signs are pointing that direction at this point. No ads for him anywhere I've looked, including craigslist, newspapers for the area, pet sites, etc.

Ah, I haven't soaped in a while now, not since September I think. Been meaning to, but one thing or another has gotten in my way. I think since you've reminded me that I'll go get things set up so that I can put together a batch tomorrow. I've been wanting to try out a swirled vanilla soap for a while, utilizing the naturally dark brown color that soap will turn from the vanillins in vanilla scents. We'll see how that works out!

Happy Halloween, everyone!

I'm well on my way to a sugar coma from candy that has mysteriously gone missing from my niece and nephew's haul, oops.

Dandy is still prolapsing, and she even laid an egg yesterday, ugh. Her fuzzy, white feathers are everywhere in her pen from her molting, but she's still laying, the crazy bird.

Had to put the soap off a couple days. I lost track of time yesterday and it was too late by the time I thought of it, and today the space I use to make soap was being used by someone else and I ran out of time before it was available. Oh, well. The good news is that everything is ready, so I should be able to throw a batch together tomorrow, barring any further interruptions. The vanilla fragrance oil smells soooo good, and I can't wait to get a batch of soap done with it so I can use it in the shower!

My vanilla soap is curing! I think I separated a little too much to leave plain for the swirl effect, but we'll see when it cures. I forgot that that dark brown color from the fragrance oil doesn't happen immediately and gradually comes on as it cures, so it just looks like plain old soap for now. I can't wait to see it once it does cure, though! Hopefully I did it right!

He really is! I tell him so every day. I still just can't believe no one is out there looking for him. I've checked almost every day for lost cat postings and nothing, no calls from the shelter, no sign at all that he's someone else's pet. Almost three weeks he's been here now. It's just hard to accept that someone would dump such a sweet, handsome boy.

You just never know. People can be heartless when it comes to animals. But, then there are others like you that would take in a stray and work hard to find the owner. Its lucky to have found you.
