UGH, back to the grind! I had class this morning, and it was so hard to leave the babies behind to go... But they were fine with Mama all morning.
I am terribly fatigued from the darned daylight savings time change, though. :/ I hate having to be miserable like this for a week every spring and fall!
Anyway, I have homework that needs to be done (and probably should have been over spring break, but then babies happened... ), so I just wanted to check in real quick. Hoping to get at least some pictures at some point today, though--I want lots to look back on when the babies are big ol' teenagers!
I don't like the time change either. The ducks always line up at the gate to let out to go to their coop. They didn't sit their clocks up they normally lined up at 6 and now it's 7 when they line up.
Their smart they just go by the same time as always.
Did you give Marge your cell phone number in case she needed help.
Just joking she'll do fine.
Have a nice day the sun is finally out here it rained this morning.
Haha, my girls are unaffected (except for when my schedule changes enough to effect their free-range time, which it doesn't do this semester, thank goodness) because I try to always let them out at the same time every day (and by that, I mean sans DST! ).
Margie's a stubborn one, she wouldn't call me. I just had to make sure to check in on her frequently once I was home. I do need to get pictures tonight, though! The babies already have wing feathers coming in, can you believe it?!
No sun here, just gray clouds. But, no rain at least!
By the time I went out there to get pictures of little wing feathers, Mama had already taken the babies into their cat carrier nest for the night! That was the first time she had done that, so when I peeked in and saw no one in her section of the coop, I was a bit alarmed at first! Then I realized, and when I peeked inside, this is what I saw.
"What? This is what you wanted, isn't it?"
I wanted to show some baby wing feathers, so I reached under her and brought out the first baby I touched, who happened to be Winter! Look at the wings on this little guy!
I put Winty down and he went running right back to Mama because he had obviously been abused. "Mama, Mama, she was mean to me!!"
"It's okay, baby, go back to bed. Mama will handle this..."
Indi and Marka have bigger wings, but I didn't want to disturb Mama and the babies too much, so I'll have to get more pictures tomorrow. Oh, darn.
Marge is such a good mom letting you hold the baby even after she has put them to bed for the night. Winter's little wing feathers are so cute. Loved the pictures and Winter tattling to his mom.
Sorry, no pictures of wings as promised today. School's already got me busy and we're only 2 days back! I took a break from schoolwork to get the birds to bed, though, and saw this, so I just had to run and get my camera. This is Indi, Marka, and Winty under their Mama's tail, getting ready for bed. Bennie was tucked away just behind them.
The next couple days are going to be busy for me with homework, but I just have to get pictures tomorrow and the day after--Marka and Bennie are a week old tomorrow, and Indi and Winty are a week old the day after! Here's hoping I can break long enough to do so!
Beautiful pic of the little ones. I love how their peeping out. Thats fine about the wing pics I know your busy with school. Thanks so much for sharing the pic with us.
I did get pictures yesterday! I was so swamped with homework that I didn't even crop / mark them until just now, though. But that just means that there are more pictures to post all at once!! Here they come!
These are yesterday's pictures! Not too many because, well, explained above, but a few! I made sure to take individual pictures of Bennie and Marka because they were both exactly one week old, but Bennie's a squirt, so as you can see, he didn't want to cooperate.
Marka posed nicely, but complained the whole time.
They were being cute afterward, though! The birthday boys! (Or, well, hatchday anniversary... boys or girls? )
Here's Bennie, Indi, and Winty talking about things. Their lives are so complicated.
And because Indigo is about the cutest little thing, here he is in my hand! (Don't mind my uneven fingernails, it's from playing the harp... )
And here are today's pictures! I took a bunch today because all the homework I had this week was due yesterday, so I'm all good on time now!
Neither Indi nor Winty wanted to cooperate for similar week-old pictures to Marka and Bennie, so I guess that idea went over poorly. Here they are, attempting to escape from picture taking:
Afterward, Winty posed nicely on his own.
Indi maintained his stubbornness against taking a nice week-old picture, though.
...But I think I can forgive him after giving me this picture.
I think from here on, I will take the -week old pictures on either Wednesday or Thursday, depending on how homework is doing that week, instead of trying to do both. That'll make things easier for me, anyway!
Moving on--Lunch time! Actually, more like supper, but still!
Here's Bennie being a squirt again!
"Mama, you got a little on your beak!"
Indi's still suspicious of my motives after trying to get him to pose...
They all go running when Mama finds something to show them! Look at those full crops!
And just because, a picture of some volunteer Crocuses right near Frou-Frou's grave... Her flowers are just starting to peek through the ground, but there's also a volunteer daffodil there that hasn't blossomed yet.
