Hey, all! Sorry for dropping off the planet for a bit there! I had all the intentions of getting pictures of the peepers this weekend, and then my sister pulled some stupid stuff and, well, I'm still upset about it all but I did get pictures today. The Silkied babes are about 4 weeks old (plus a couple days), and the rest of them are 3 weeks old. My, the weeks are flying by! I wish I could say they've been going out regularly, but boy has the weather been lousy! I'm not sure we've had a day without rain since the middle of last week! Needless to say, it's pretty yucky outside as a result.
Anyway, the gist of it is that I took pictures of the kids inside in their brooder.

I'll just get right to it--here are the Silkied kids:
Mr. Blue Band. He's way too sweet--if his older brothers were any indication, that mean's he's bound to be a real jerk!
Mr. Pink Band. A bit aloof, this one. Likely a good thing for his future personality judging again by his older brothers.
And Miss White Band. She is the sweetest little lady in the brooder, second only to those little Dorking gals.

I've decided to name her Roxanne, Roxy for short.
And the rest of the beeper squad! Here are my precious, sweet, darling little Dorkings!
Miss Myrna. What a little lady! All prim and proper! She only recently discovered lap time, but she comes over whenever I sit by the brooder and lets me stroke her feathers or pick her up without much of a fuss. She and Nikita are distinguished by their chest feathers. Myrna's are white, and as you will see, Nikita's are orange.
Kita! What a stinker, and an absolute love!

She loves her cuddles, and is definitely the lap hog of the brooder! If my lap is full, she'll just hop to my shoulder!

It's tough getting pictures of her, because she's so active--and she's always shooting me looks like this!
Now, the mottled Cochins. My guesses for their sexes so far are included.
Blue Band mottled. Possible pullet? I go back and forth on her. She's kind of skitterish, but does approach sometimes.
Green band mottled. Possible cockerel with as much color as he has in his face... This is the reason I go back and forth on Blue band mottled; they're pretty similar in development. I didn't notice that this picture was out of focus until I was cropping them this evening, much too late to get a better pic. I'll try again tomorrow.
Orange band mottled. Definite cockerel. This one's the crower. He's also making a strong case for his future at Freezer Camp. This little snot is already showing aggression toward me. Pecking my hand when I reach in the brooder, trying to chest bump with me, and he even dropped a wing at me the other day!

He has hardly any feathers. Reminds me a lot of Umru as a chick--and y'all might recall Umru was the biggest jerk on two legs!
Purple band. Also a definite cockerel. His temper is better than Orange band, but he does peck at me as well. Little brat!

You can see he also likes to be in my lap. So, he's a kiss-up as well.
White band mottled. Possible pullet. She's like Blue band in skitterishness, though a bit more shy of me than Blue band.
Yellow band. Likely pullet. She is so spunky! But, unfortunately, she's the shyest of the lot of them. She peeps in alarm if my hand is anywhere near her, whether I'm moving or not. Oh, well.
A hand full of other pictures. Here is what I get whenever I sit down by the brooder. The line is already forming for lap time!

Nikita's leading the pack, of course!
Roxy, looking up at me.

I got a TON of pictures like this when I was trying to get her to pose for her above picture!
Ain't she sweet?
Here's Kita cuddling, too. Oh, the face!!
White band Mottled baby stretching it out. It's amazing to me how few feathers most of these babies have, considering that most of them had staggered wing pins indicating that they were fast feathering!
A super serious little Yellow band peeper. This was mere seconds before she went flying!
And lastly, a close up of Myrna.
In other news, Mrs. Hummingbird is still sitting away! She seems more and more used to me, though she does flit off still if I get too close. She should have hatchlings in about a week, assuming she had just started sitting when I first noticed her and posted about it here.

Can't wait to see!!
And I think that's it. Ugh, look at the time!

Good night, all!
