The naked neck eggs are in the Octagon!
I was actually kind of impressed with how they packaged them, at least at first. They were packed in an egg carton stabilized by egg flats to keep it from moving around, and the eggs themselves were surrounded by clean pine shavings. I've gotten eggs like that that did really well, so I was pretty happy... until I dug into the shavings and found that they'd laid the eggs SIDEWAYS in the cartons instead of pointy end down
So that explains why all the air cells are jiggly!
One also has a crack in it. I took a couple pictures of it just to document it. Looks like what happens when one of my girls lays an egg on top of another egg. I did set this egg as well, but I covered the crack thoroughly with liquid bandage and put it in a corner away from where the other eggs are, so if anything goes wrong I can remove it and hopefully there won't be an issue. Because of who I am as a person, I'll probably be peeking frequently enough to notice if it starts to go bad before it can explode or anything.
Hopefully I'll have lots of cute babies from these eggs in three weeks!
I'm going to wait to set the silkied Cochin eggs, maybe even until Sunday, I haven't decided. It'll stagger the hatch a little bit, but I do have the Ovation to use as a hatcher, so it shouldn't be a problem. Those won't have any issues being turned, so I kinda want to wait until I'm turning these eggs before I set them.
