A little Blue baby just hatched, a few minutes before midnight The other egg is working on hatching now, too!

I've been posting about this on my thread for the silkied Cochins, but I have just learned that Boba is actually Blue, not Black, as a result of this hatch. Her baby, the second one to hatch, is Blue as well, something that would not be possible from a Black hen paired with a Black rooster like Gus! I was afraid for a bit there that I had somehow confused her eggs for one of the (other?) Blue hens' eggs, in which case I wouldn't know which chicks were the right pairing for the breeding program and which weren't, but thankfully it was simply that Boba is such a dark Blue I thought she was Black this whole time!

Oh, happy birthday!! That means you share a birthday with Zinnia, too!

Well, here is your birthday buddy (the darker baby) and their hatchmate today! Still sleepy babies and just wanting to stay under the heater so far. I put their feeder and waterer in the brooder with them and tried to show them the water, but they weren't having any of it, so back under the heater for a while still.
