Pipd's Peeps!

The flash on my cell phone camera really highlighted all the dirt on the walls in this coop 😬 But I'm very pleased anyway because last night, at long last, all of the pullets in the outer coop actually perched instead of piling in the corner!! :love

...And a bunch crunched together on the left roost instead of using the space available on the right roost, of course. :th But, progress nonetheless!

I also wanted to show off that my girls are absolute artists. :love The dark egg is by Vivienne the Black Marans, and the light egg is by one of the Cochin pullets in the outer coop.

I know!! I hope whoever is laying it ends up as a breeder so that maybe she'll pass on her artistry to her daughters :fl I honestly don't know which one is doing it other than that it's not typical of Judy's eggs.

Hope so too! If it gets passed on, you could start calling them Picasso Cochins

Picachins, if you will 🤣

Maybe if I can figure out who it is, I'll name her after a famous artist. Monet? Vermeer? Da Vinci? Picasso? Oh, Pablo actually would be a pretty cute name for a pullet 😍

I'm dead, Picachins🤣🤣🤣

I love Monet as an artist, but I think Pablo is a better name. The other ones don't have the same ring to them

I do really like Pablo for one of the pullets... :love Gotta figure out which one is the artist in the crowd!

On another subject... I think old man Roscoe might be on his way out. He's had a dusky tinge to his face for a few months now so I've suspected for a while that his heart is failing, but as of the past couple days he's looking even darker in the face and has been hunched, fluffed, and a bit sluggish. I honestly didn't expect him to make it through the night the way he looked last night. I've got him in a cozy pen up out of the wind on this chilly day for today, so we'll see. Poor old man. He's one of my very first silkied Cochin bantams that I got way back in 2016, so he's a bird with a lot of sentiment to me.

I'm so sorry Pipd. It's always hard to lose a bird, but losing the hard ones is heart wrenching. Hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs

Thanks, y'all. :hugs He is looking a touch less dusky than he did the other night, but still dusky, hunching a lot, and acting a bit weak. I wonder if the cold and wind a couple days ago was just too much for him in his condition. Definitely not expecting him to get all the way back to 100% or anything, but maybe he'll stick around a tiny bit longer yet. :fl

He's not into all the attention he's been getting from me lately if the look on his face here is any indication. 🤭
