Pipd's Peeps!

Ah, I'm sorry to hear that. :hmm We had some clouds, but thankfully the event was visible through them for us. We didn't have totality, but it definitely took on like an evening dimness out there. It was a weird sort of lighting, though, kind of like a clear night with a bright, full moon instead of like late evening.

In the spirit of such an interesting event in space, I saw this and thought it was pertinent to share here as well... 😇

Ugh, they're growing like crazy! I was just thinking yesterday that I ought to get update pictures of them soon. I think I need to move them to the bigger brooder on shavings at this point, they are making a mess of the towel brooder. 😅

The two Splashes (one Judy booty and one not) are already getting their splashy wing feathers!! To be honest, that makes me a little nervous because all of my Splash pullets last year didn't get splashes right away and all the cockerels did  But it was a pretty small number, 3 pullets and 2 cockerels last year, so that could have just been coincidental... :fl

I... didn't get any pictures of the little ones yesterday. Nor did I move them to the big brooder. Definitely need to get that done today!!

I did grab a couple pictures of the adults this morning while opening coops. I finally moved Buck in with his girls yesterday, and this morning he's still feeling a bit unsure about his surroundings. He's doing a lot of dancing and keeps letting the girls know that their food dish is still full, so so far so good on his behavior with them. 🥰

And here's the breakfast rush after filling one of the dishes in the main flock's pen 🤣

Buck is handsome! He looks like he's questioning your choices to move him though 🤣 that's good that he's being helpful to the hens even though he's not sure why he's in there 😊

I have a young cockerel in with some pullets, they surprised me by starting to lay last week so I had to get an oyster shell dish in there. He was such a good boy, he got all excited and called them over and was pecking at it and got all his ladies to try it :love he's not perfect to the SOP, but he's such a sweetie so it makes it tempting to at least hatch a few chicks from him.
