Pipd's Peeps!

Oh my. I've got to say, I'm not in love with my sebright. She is crazy. Talk about flighty. And she screams when I pick her up. :barnie
This morning I go out and take care of them and she poops on my back! Ugh. First time for everything I guess.
I've named her Rose because she looks sweet, but is thorny.

Also, yesterday my 2 roosters really duked it out. I think Rebel had had enough of Cheddar's shenanigans. I wasn't sure what happened until I looked at the cameras. Cheddar got his poor little butt kicked. But, then I kept an eye all day and nothing else happened. They stayed in their separate areas. This morning the same. :fl They are OK. I do have a plan to separate, but need to wait for this heat wave to pass.

Day 8 picture of the day--we have our first tie!

Morena and her new little one :love

And... Surprise! Inara and the last little Judy booty!! 😍

I knew Morena's would be out by this morning because it was zipping last night. Inara's I figured would hold out until my appointment later, but instead just hatched overnight so I missed it either way. She's not a Splash like I was hoping, but hopefully she's a pullet at least--everyone send all your girliest thoughts her way :fl

Anyway, the runners up, we have Gwenyth sitting on a brick for some reason 🤔 She's teetering on the verge of going broody again, which unfortunately is probably the last nail in the coffin of me being able to hatch from her this year. :barnie

And Caz Cochin, now my last large fowl Cochin. It must be the angle or something, but this picture makes her look so much smaller and thinner / less fluffy than she really is 🤭

:wee it's a Judy Blue Booty! Ok, I know I was also hoping for a splash, butt (lol) it's still a Jusy Booty and I'm so happy :celebrate

Yeah, my experience with chicks that are delayed in growth is that they generally don't make it to maturity. The oldest one I ever had like that made it to about 6 months old smaller than everyone else of the same age, and then succumbed to a simple ear infection that stubbornly would not go away. Usually I'll do everything I can for them, but I don't expect them to live very long at all. :hmm Probably a good idea to have your friend pick a different one.

Speaking of your little ones, did you ever say how those OEGB bitties were doing? I remember you saying you were giving the one until Friday to get going again... :fl
One made it one didn't. Yesterday evening checked on them in the garage and now I'm missing the white one. 🫤 No body or anything so I don't know what happened.

Yeah, it seems to me like my Sebrights were not the friendliest, either, though many say they are. :idunno Sounds like she's more of an eye candy chicken than a cuddly chicken. Rotten girl!

Oh, hopefully they've settled their differences!! :fl Sometimes that's all it takes is them getting into one solid tiff and someone getting knocked down a few pegs.

Aw, I'm so sorry :hugs Not the little white one!! It's always the worst when you lose them mysteriously so you can't even get any closure about what happened. 🙁

Picture of the day, day... 9? I think? 😅 Vivienne and Harriet having a dust bath together :love Don't mind the sour cream tub at the edge of the picture. It's supposed to be a water dish, but it got knocked over, and I knew if I went over to move it that Harriet would run before I could get this picture.

Runner up pictures... Inara and Morena seem to be co-broodying peacefully so far. Fingers crossed, knock on wood, here's hoping anyway. :fl

They've traded babies at least once already. This picture shows Inara on the left with the non-Judy booty baby that Morena hatched, and Morena on the right with the Judy booty baby that Inara hatched:

My co-broodies this year are getting special leg bands because the one silver phoenix hen as done this twice and I know she accepts older chicks pretty readily. Shes my oldest silver phoenix hen. The one I named Star. If they can reliably keep doing this they may get a pen of their own just for hatching and raising chicks. Would have to be to the side of their permanent home pen so integration is still easy.

She definitely is rotten. Maybe the other people didn't interact with her enough? I went out to feed them and she's actually keeping track of me because she already knows I provide the food. The little blue one is buddies with her, so I guess she's got her place for now.

When I watched the vid, Cheddar was literally on his back at one point. I felt bad for him, but they seem fine rn. We are going out of town for the weekend. I just hope they behave.

I watched yesterday and Cheddar is a fence fighter. He antagonizes Rebel when Rebel is on the duck's side. Rebel usually sits up on the fence divider. Since he can get anywhere in the run, he can pick a fight any day he chooses. But, usually he chooses peace.
But, I don't think Cheddar expected Rebel to have had enough.

This was probably Cheddar the day before -

Also, if I had to get rid of one of them, Cheddar would be chosen. Although he's never done anything to me. He's just not that interested in me either. Rebel comes and talks to me, pinches me when I don't give him a treat fast enough 😂, and when I picked him up to check on him - he leaned into me - like a hug of sorts. 😉
OK, I know he wasn't hugging me... but we have more of a bond.
