Happy Independence Day to all my fellow U.S. Americans! Day 24's picture of the day is of a very patriotic young man, Birch, who is Splash (so white and blue colored) and developed reddish color leakage on his shoulders:

...Okay, I may have tuned the colors up on that shot just a tiny bit to make them pop more. Here is the unedited version--it almost looks like the opposite, like his colors have been muted compared to the above edited version

No problem! I just remembered that you had said something about not getting alerts for threads sometimes so I figured you'd lost us somewhere along the line.

I hadn't noticed that on Birch! He does have some pretty impressive eyebrows for a chicken

And the medal is well deserved!

They definitely make his eyes pop!

Truly! Nine times out of ten when I'm trying to find something I can find it here on BYC! When I got my spirit badge, I was overcome with the honor that I'd be considered among those who contribute such knowledge to the site. I'm just one big ball of tangled up, chicken-obsessed anxiety over here doing my best.

I was (am) impressed by his patriotic colors. He's still an amazing bird.

He is That picture (the unedited one, I mean) actually makes him look just a tad darker than he is in person, too.

It's too late in the year for any more hatching with everything I have going on in the fall, but I hope to hatch some babies out of him next year! His color leakage means he's no longer any good for the silkied Cochin breeding program, but he should make some awfully pretty mixes.

Day 25's picture of the day! It's the one and only Gwenyth! Look at that face--this is a bird who is at the edge of her patience with me trying to get her picture during breakfast.

For runners up, we have our co-mamas, Inara and Morena, still co-mama-ing peacefully after just that one day of trouble a little while ago.

And Ms. Peanut Butter, all done with her molt. I had wanted to get a good shot of her for today's picture to show off her fresh fluffiness, but she decided to go all the way back under the cedar tree in the chicken yard and stay out of reach for that.

Big ball of tangled up, Chicken obsessed anxiety, are you my long lost sister!?! I'm doing better than I was a few months ago, I thankfully got a less stressful job and that has helped a lot.
