Pipd's Peeps!

She was so sick of me when I finally got that picture of her 🤭

I'm so glad they did! I was not looking forward to trying to separate them 😬

That's good to hear! I think I remember you mentioning you were switching jobs because of stress, so it's good to hear you're at a better place now! :hugs

Us chicken-obsessed high-anxiety people gotta stick together :highfive:

Gwenyth and probably Peanut Butter. Gwennie I just want more little naked neck weirdos in my flock like her. 🤭 And PB is such a sweetheart, and she's both Roscoe and Reuben's granddaughter so I'd like to keep their genetics going in my mixed flock now that both of them are gone. Their babies will be beyond adorable! 🥰

Nevermind, should have read ahead:rolleyes:. Pardon my mistake.

High anxiety chicken peeps sticking together? Count me in!

Sad news for me today. Lost one of the grow outs. Nor sure from what other than heat. It may have aspirated some water. Was right next too the waterer and it was alive last night. Crop was empty when I checked it on the deceased bird and weight was actually picking up on it.

I'm going to treat them for coccidia tho just to be safe. They did get moved to actual ground contact and we do have several strains of it. I don't think that's what killed it tho. I think it was the heat. It's been very bad here.

Sorry for your loss:hugs

Day 26 picture of the day! It's an Easter-egger loaf. 🤭 To be honest, I'm mostly just surprised that Dym let me approach to take this picture and didn't take off beforehand.

Just one runner up today. Pete was following me around out there so I turned around to ask him what the heck he wanted and he gave me his best impression of this emoji: 🥺

I really love your pictures and descriptions! They are starting to make my day and possibly inspire me to try doing the same thing.

I'm sorry for your loss, this heat has been brutal, I lost 2 on Thursday, not 100% sure why, the one was a pullet that just hasn't been growing right, and the other was a silkie rooster, I don't know if the fireworks, or thunderstorm scared him or what.

This summer has been rough, 10 to 15 degrees hotter than normal with all the typical high humidity.
I don't think they have been eating enough. Going to try wet mush crumble today.

Oof, I hate that y'all are having such excessive heat already :hugs We had a heat wave at the end of June where we were in the upper 80's to lower 90's (that's about 30-35°C for our Celsius scale users) for a week and that was brutal enough for me! :th

To be fair, I really wanted to hatch from her this year, genuinely. I still do want to! But I didn't have anywhere to separate her from the mixed flock roosters because I'm still trying to sell off my extra roosters from last year, and then she went broody, and then the brooder was full, and then she went broody again and I don't think she's laid a single egg since. :barnie And now it's kinda too late to hatch anyway because of classes starting in less than two months. :th

Aw, I'm glad! Let me know if you do, I'd love to see your daily flock pictures as well!

That's a great idea, with a few icecubes mixed in. I need to do that.

Hope your birds all did okay with this today! :fl

:hugs You don't have to explain yourself Pipd. I totally get it, sometimes plans don't work out. I'm sure Gwenyth is relieved she doesn't have to pay child support yet

Good luck with your classes!

:hugs I know, but I also know you were as excited as I was for Gwennie babies this year, so I kinda feel bad for letting you down.

I dread it, but I think I'm just going to have to resign myself to having more of the boys processed in the fall instead of overwintering so many like I did. It's just not sustainable for me to keep this many around for so long. They're taking up so much space that I was scrambling to find places to put peeps out there.

I just wish more people were interested in these sweet boys! :barnie After all the awful roosters I've had over the years, I really hate to process the well-tempered ones just for lack of space.

Don't even think about it :hugs ! There's always next year!

Oh I totally get that about the boys. It's tough sending them to get processed. Mine are quite wild, so I feel SOOO bad when I catch them and they scream. The time I had to catch the 7 Cruella daughters to send them for butchering was tough
