Is anyone able to advise me please. How long from when a duck externally pips should they start zipping. I have 2 eggs that each have 2 external pips next to each other but nothing more. 1 egg does appear to be rocking a bit and I can hear cheeping but the other externally pipped last night (2 pips) but I have not seen any movement at all but I could have missed it... Is this normal for duck eggs?

Any advise would be appreciated :D

Aww thanks. It took my completely by surprise as I did not see the egg had pipped just suddenly noticed when he/she was half way zipped and then it took about 3 minutes and he was out. :D

Could be....................out of 20 batches or so of eggs I've hatched I have only seen a hand full of hatches :barnie

Sometimes is quick sometimes it should takes for ever. Item to leave mine for 2 days max and than I give a gentle helping hand. But be carful. I had saved a life like that many times. I hate loosing them.... good luck. What duck breed is it?

Me too, I have hatched lots of chicks and I think most of them hatched overnight when I was asleep or busy in the garden. I am so happy I got to see my first duck hatch.:wee
