Pipped on the wrong end at least 14 hours ago.

Lol I'd never done it before but when someone said, "Do it or your chick will die," I didn't have a choice! I actually did it once more the next day successfully, and again yesterday but that chick was too late. Yes, it's awesome for homeschooling! I am doing it with my public school class next week!

Well you certainly are getting in your practice, you’re basically a pro. I wonder why you have had to do it so many times?

Lol, yeah totally a pro 🤣my first time ever! I think it was because they were all coop rescue eggs that the mamas abandoned and I never chose or candled them, checked air pocket location, etc. and humidity was inconsistent because they were left for cold. I would probably intervene again if it was on the wrong end and taking longer than other chicks.

That’s the thing. I don’t really know when it pipped. I know at 6 am there were bits of shell floating in the water. But because it pipped on the bottom it could have yesterday and just no shell broke off.

The membrane seems more yellowish to me? Or maybe I’m exhausted and a bit senile.

So it’s now 19 hours since I first noticed the pip. It doesn’t seem like any progress has been made. The membrane looks quite dry. About four hours ago I added more wet paper towel and used a q-tip to dab some water on the exposed membrane. I can see that I now have another egg that has pipped so I really really don’t want to open the incubator again. Do I just let it be and let whatever happens happen?

I'm sorry, I just saw this. I'd help when you get up today.

I think a lot of people would assist. I would drip a bit of warm water into the hole first, not too much but not just a dab with a q tip. Position it so the hole is facing directly up. That way the chick will be lying on its back but it sounds stuck so some liquid will help loosen it up. If no progress within 6 hours after that you would need to start peeling shell away to see what is going on.
