Pipping at wrong end and dry membrane!

Morning
Has baby made that big hole himself ?
If so he is probably in the wrong position to zip
I would pick around the shell a bit more and use coconut oil to check for veins. If you see some just give him more time
If they are all gone then finish the zip for him and see if he can push himself out if not you could move more shell around his head so he can get out

it is hard to tell.
Let me @New duck mommy 2021 here, I'm a little busy today and her opinion on the situation would be good if she's around.
Do you see yawning or chewing motions still? Is he peeping strong?
I can't see his beak due to his wing, I only knew he was yawning and chewing earlier because he moved his wing above him and now its back at the hole.
Hes not peeping when I talk to him but hes still moving in the egg. Whenever he does peep, sometimes it is strong and sometimes it is quiet.

Good morning!
Newt had cracked the egg there and then made a small hole throughout the night but it wasn't enough to get him air so I widened it so he could get some air.
The position he is in right now, I dunno if he'd be able to zip. Like I said, his wing is in front of his beak and it doesn't look like he can reach the shell.

I just read through the post
Because he missed the air cell and made the external pip missing internal the time now goes from 24 to 48
We have to add the time needed to absorb that they usually get with internal
I had one bruise the wrong end and she couldn’t actually external pip so I made the safety hole and it was 52 hours from safety hole to hatch and she still had a tiny bit of yolk that took another 2 hours to absorb
Be patient I wouldn’t try helping till you hit 48 hours after his first pip
If the beak is close to the hole baby can get air. Letting him absorb fully is much better

Alright. I don't want to risk him coming out with the yolk still attached so I'll leave him be for now.
Once 48 hours hit, should I widen the hole if no progress?
Also should I worry about him not talking as much?

Yes slowly little pieces at a time and wet the membrane with the oil to check for veins. If none continue
Can you see the beak at all ? If so I would take a dry Q tip and rub it gently on the beak to make sure the nose is clear of the goo that hardens
I also lightly rub is around between baby and membrane just slightly in the hole
I usually get the goo away from making baby stuck

Sadly I can't see his beak. My brother told me he was checking on him and he started peeping so I think he's fine but if I have to break some more of the shell and I get to his beak I'll check for any goo.

Hes peeping and moving a lot, he got through the air cell.
It's been 11 hours since he pipped on the wrong side so I pulled back two pieces of the shell and the outer membrane because it was keeping him from getting air if he turned back on that side. I candled him and didn't see his air cell, just the slightest bit but it was so hard to see, I think he shoved himself in it.
It also sounds like hes either chewing (absorbing his yolk) or hitting against the shell but I think hes absorbing.
When I put my light through the hole, I could see him moving but I don't see his beak anywhere. Should I make a hole at the air cell? (Though I can't see it so I'm nervous if I have to) Or should I wait about 4 hours before widening the hole some more

Have you checked the hatch assist articles on this site? They are really helpful. It's very important to only chip the egg shell, then there are two membranes, the membrane between the egg shell that's attached to the egg and then the second membrane that's around the baby that has the blood vessels and the yolk. The second membrane is the most important. If you can't get the first membrane without leaving the second membrane then the first membrane is too dry. Keep an ear out for his peeps and trust your gut.

Hey! It's been 48 hours since the pip and I checked and there are still veins, they are really bright red too.
Hes still moving and peeping a lot.
I'm assuming the veins would be dull or not there if hes fully absorbed so I'm not going to assist. Do you have any more advice?
