Maran eggs were too dark to mark air cell and now I believe this chick pipped at wrong end 9 hours ago. It's chirping loudly ever few hours, membrane looks sealed at times and at other times looks like it has "pin" hole in it. Membrane is still white. At times membrane moves up-down which I am hoping is breathing. Suggestions?

Usually they can hatch out by themselves but it will take a lot longer than a normal facing chicken

I just had a Maran hatch out of the wrong end. It did take about 24 hours to hatch after it piped at wrong end though.

After 24 hours with no change, I decided to assist. I read through the thread on this forum and it was the best advice anywhere. I plucked shell from around the pip hole moistening the outer membrane set back in incubator on wet paper towel to keep humidity at 75-80%. Went back 2 hours later and no progress so I removed more outer shell towards the air cell. Came back 2 hrs later and the little chick was out and everything looks great! Thanks for the moral support! Now I have 2 Jubilee Orpington's pipping in the middle....ugh..gotta love shipped eggs.

I've never had luck with that. They drown, if you don't catch it, early, and roll that pip "up" side. Good luck.
