pipping but no hatching more than 24 hours later ?????

I have ducklings in the bator...yesterday was day 26, today 27 and tomorrow is the big day 28. By yesterday evening, a bunch had already cracked little dents in their shells. By this morning, there were 12 out of 22 that had cracks in them. They are peeping as well. However, NONE are more than just a circular crack. Is this a problem? Are we in trouble? What to do. This is a hovabator with circulating fan and they are pekin duckling eggs. Thanks

I had one duckling that pipped on a Monday and didnt hatch til Wednesday. Ducks can take longer than chicks to hatch.

I have had duck eggs take 3 days to hatch also. However, I did make the mistake the first time and opened the bator which I think let the humidity fall and lost a couple during the hatch. I didn't know any better at the time. Give them time.

I actually had to open it for a split second a few minutes ago because the humidity had dropped and I had to fill one of the troughs. It would have been lower than Metzer farms recommends...much lower....so... I poured it in and shut it back up and the reader went right up so I don't think that there would be any damage from that? The busiest egg...the one that is rockin and rollin all day long and I swear is the one making all the noise....has not pipped yet. No cracks at all...

OK so I took advice from someone earlier on this or another post, I can't remember, but, I cranked the heat and the shower and brought a humidistat in with me in the bathroom...took the crew/incubator in there and am SO glad that I helped that one out. I also cracked a little bit around the pip for the three others that seem to be a bit behind. I left them in as you could see the blood vessels still right up around them, but, this way they could move a bit forward. That little one screamed until I enabled it to pop out. It was a different type of noise than yesterday's chirp and as soon as it was able to get out, it stopped. I don't believe it would have made it out if I didn't help. I also believe that that noise it made would be made to its mother! I could tell the difference, I swear. Sounds crazy, I know! Anyway, he/she is out. BOY>>>THIS IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART! After I was done....my knees were SO WOBBLY! I am going to post this on another thread that I have going somewhere for the other person who asked. Take care all!
