Pipping day 19 - oh no!

Is this too early for a chick to hatch??

Day 21 is Friday around noon, and this afternoon (Wednesday) there was peeping coming from the incubator, and at dinnertime there was a pipped cochin egg

Still no baby... am worried.

Will it be too weak or deformed if born so early?

I am on day 19 also and I have 4 pips. I think it will be just fine. It's pipping because it's developed enough to hatch. Don't worry. Good luck!

They will be fine, I have had them hatch on day 18!

I had a little BW Ameraucana chick that pipped and hatched about 40 minutes later on day 19. It's now the biggest chick in the brooder and is doing great. It was just his time.

I'd only be concerned if your chick pips and stays inside of the egg for more than 24 hrs. He may be struggling at this point and become exhausted. I had a chick that tried to get out of the egg for 2 days before I finally intervened and helped him hatch, it was very nerve-racking, but that chick is doing just as well as the early one.

They're pretty tough little guys, give them time and don't open that incubator unless you absolutely have to!

I had some hatch on day 17 and 18, recently!!! And they were fine!

All of them (20) hatched by day 20. Not a single one was left to hatch by day 21.

Mine started pipping on day 18 (Imagine how surprised I was to see that before lockdown!) and they were all hatched out by the end of day 19. I had 22/24 healthy and happy chicks and two eggs that quit somewhere around day 12-15. They will be two weeks old on Friday and are all doing great. Point to that little story--Relax and enjoy the new fuzzy butts, and don't forget that we want pictures!

so how is everything going? did the chick hatch?

Last time I had chicks hatching when I candled on the night of day 18 two had piped into the aircell, on day 19 three had piped and when I woke up on day 20 I had three new babys

The baby that pipped yesterday afternoon hadn't made any progress, so I helped remove some shell and dry membrane and she just popped out - she was more than ready but needed assistance!

Meanwhile, another baby pipped and hatched overnight...
