pipping help

Be careful cranking the humidity after the pip. If the temp is a little high and the humidity gets cranked, you can drown the chick in the egg. The humidity needs to be raised to about 60% on day 18 at lockdown. If they don't hatch on their own, there is more than likely something wrong with the chick or the bator was opend during a hatch and made the membrane so harg the chick can't brake through. I had a guinea egg fully develope once and after it didn't hatch, I cracked and found a dead but fully developed 1 headed, 2 body keet. Nature will take care of itself as long as we don't do something dumb to hurt their chances.

After hatched weak chicks I leave in incubator wrapped in washcloths to prevent legs from being spastic. I give them drinks of water with electrolytes and sugar. The sugar water is trick and leaving them in incubator till can walk well. If they cannot walk well they cannot regulate their warmth walking away from light. I will take boiled egg and give them bites of boiled egg if I have to keep them in incubator for few days. Most can be saved this way.
