Pipping - how long does that part of the hatching last?

I don't think the two I hatched last spring spent any time waiting around inside an open shell. There were no pips, there were no zips, there was just an intact egg, and then there was a chick.

2 of mine are pipped right now. One of them is doing some serious rocking in that egg so i am thinking one it gets a good angle on it there will be no time before it pops right on out!!!!
I am impatiently waiting for this baby!!!!!!

I only set 3 eggs as this is my first time trying to hatch anything. They are a cross between rhode island red (daddy) and a gold and black chocin. I cant wait to see what they look like!!!

I am litterally sitting on my hands at time to keep from messing with them now that they have pipped. I do go over and talk to them and encourage them to get that egg zipped and come on out to play!!!!! They cheep and peep when I talk to the eggs hehe

I have to figure out how to post photos of the darlings on here and I sure will post some!!!!

It is beyond heart warming when they start to move more nad harder.. Kinda like they are saying.. "Momma.. I am working on it.. I hear ou and want to get out to be with you!!!!"
