Looking good so far! I see it pipped on the pointy end. It will still make it out fine most likely, it's just not in the correct position.Day 19 photo on left. Day 20 photo (12 hours later). Chick is chirping. This is only egg that has pipped so far.
I didn't; this was a spur of moment project with my granddaughter. When should this chick hatch out? When should I realize I have an issue?Looking good so far! I see it pipped on the pointy end. It will still make it out fine most likely, it's just not in the correct position.
Did you calibrate your thermometer before incubation? I'm assuming temp was a bit too high. Usually they externally pip on day 20 and hatch on day 21.
It has been 24 hours since it first pipped, but bird is chirping and active in shell. It can rest for up to 24hrs after pipping externally, then after that it should start zipping (making hole around the side of the egg until the top is like a lid) then it will rest a bit more and push itself out.

Oh...ok. Before trying to hatch again be sure to calibrate a thermometer. The built in ones are rarely any where near accurate. I had one that read 3 degrees high once.I didn't; this was a spur of moment project with my granddaughter. When should this chick hatch out? When should I realize I have an issue?

I think it'll be just fine. Chicks needing assistance are rare, most people assist too early. Don't assist unless it's been 24+ hours with NO progress. If it's progressed at all, don't assist. There's a link in my signature you can read too.
It would be best to post a pic on here before assisting too so we can confirm if assistance is necessary.![]()
