YA-HOOOOO got up this morning and low and behold I've got babies, my first hatch of anything. I've seen all the pictures but OMG I did not realize how small these guys would be. I see the small egg but some how I guess you think when it hatchs it will be bigger. I'm taking off early from work to watch, boy that's going to be a LOOOONG half day of work. Pics to follow.

Well along with the good sometimes the not so good shows up. 3 days and out of 200, 74 have not pipped or zipped, these were shipped eggs (Ga Giants) from a place in Georgia. That's only about a 63% hatch rate. I'm pretty sure I did everything according to Hoil or in this case BYC. Temps were a constant 100 degree's in Bator & 99 in Hatcher, Bator humidity was constant 48 %, Hatcher 65 %. Rotated automatically once every 1 1/2 hours.Today I raised hatcher humidity to 70% because I found 3 that could not get thru the membrane though fully zipped. I know your not supposed to but what could I lose so I helped them out and so far all are running around briskly.

Think I'll find somewhere closer to home to ship eggs. I Have 100 Jumbo Browns from Tenn. in now to hatch Wednesday, hope for a better turn out.

Question, anyone use the medicated paper from GQF for the chicks first few days? I got several sheets for the floor of the Hatcher and boy it sure seems SLIPPERY. Or are you supposed to cover it with something also? Thanks

I was hopeing for about 75%, but this being my first hatching I thought it was kinda low. But if it is very good then I feel better. I guess my expectations were a little over zealous. I guess you always hope for 100%.
