Am about to buy 3 ducks for meat and was wondering about pithing them. I have read it loosens the feathers of a chicken but dont know if it will do the same for a duck.

Do any of you know?

The trick with pithing chickens for "loose" feathers is to get them to relax first by "hypnotizing" them. Holding them on their backs and petting their chests until they calm down and go into tonic immobility. Then you are free to pith them while they are quiet. Saves a lot of trouble, the meat is good, and the feathers practically fall out (doesn't work to well with a lot of birds though).

I'm not sure if you can hypnotize a duck though, but it's worth a shot? Anybody had a duck go limp from cradling it?
