Same, pure dogs are always preferable to work with, but there's no reason why a cross can't turn out good. And plain old GOKWs sometimes turn out to be the best dogs ever.My best friend had several Rottweilers growing up that were very good with ducks, guineas, chickens and pigs but would keep all visitors off the property. I personally have had pitbulls for a very long time, my current pit is challenging but I think she will be good, she's still a pup and needs alot of patience. I've seen accidental pit/Rottweiler litters on Craigslist free and have almost gotten one I just prefer "pure" dogs.
After making this thread I found a great dane lab mix, and after doing my research it was looking like she would be a great fit for the farm. When she arrived on the farm she was chill and pleasant, but only a few weeks later I could tell her prey drive was insanely high, her favorite activity was spooking my ducks, and after that it was chasing the cats and biting them really hard, and if I let the other dogs out she would act very aggressively in her play and had zero boundaries no matter how much the other dogs told her to quit.
I tried working with her, I really tried hard, but with every single correction I gave her she would whip around and bite me, hard. She was actually becoming a bully and after trying to work with her for so long I finally burst into tears and found her a new home (perfect fit, just absolutely perfect!!).
So after this I was super disappointed, because I still thought having another dog was a good idea. So I was going to save and shop around for an am bully, until my dad pulled up my driveway and handed me a pit bull

He's the best, the absolute best. I don't see how anyone could say he's a bad farm dog. He has great manners, he's super affectionate with the other dogs, and if I tell him an animal is off limits, then it's off limits, he has a goofy but still nurturing nature.
I think after this experience I wouldn't shop for the perfect breed, I would just look for the perfect puppy, and the only necessary qualities would be affectionate, smart, and eager to please.
