Seriously, it is the easy way to make your dough-I use the recipe that is in their booklet.

I buy the big bags of yeast at Costco, they are dirt cheap-just have to use the conversion table to calculate what would be in a package.

You can make your own pizza sauce that is much better than what you find in a jar at the store. And it only takes a few ingredients.

Costco has a pizza stone with a cookbook for $18, I have to get me one so no idea how it works

Toppings, we did a make your own pizza party-kids are still talking about the food. I seasoned the dough, we used pesto for sauce, ham feta and mozzarella is the one they talk about the most. Trader Joes has a nice agiasto cheese that I want to try on pizza.

FYI-my new fav thing to make, Focaccia bread! (fussy kids finished the artichoke hearts and roasted red pepper in no time at all)

I had an earlier question, Carol...if I were to make my own pizza sauce...what makes pizza sauce pizza sauce as opposed to pasta sauce? Is it the texture? A certain spice or herb?

Pizza sauce uses more tomato paste to be thicker.

We used allrecipes.com to search for the perfect sauce for my son who is very picky (he is over 18 and was looking to make for himself) And it is cheap to make your own vs buy a jar. I am sure you could cook down garden tomatoes to make it from scratch too.

Then we did the sniff test on a variety of spices to see what he would like and created something he liked. Because it makes a bigger batch than you need, we would freeze the extra.

Making your own dough and sauce is fun because you can the seasonings you like in the mix. And a couple of balls of cheese from costco put through the food processor to grate really saves on the wrists and wallet.

We just had a pizza party yesterday at work for the end our boiler outage work. There is a local place called Manny's that has the best pizza. We had everything from cheese to steak and potatoe. My two favorites are Clams casino and buffalo chicken.

When I went to college in Chicago I had some of the best deep dish pizzas I've ever had. But when I went to Kingsford, Michigan, I had THE best thin-crust pizza EVER!! It's such a treat whenever we go there! (There's a large population of Italians up there so there is yummy homemade Italian food too.)

This thread is making me soooo hungry for pizza, but I've got a bad cold and just can't tolerate the cheese right now. Anyone have a good cheese-less pizza recipe? (no meat, please)

Homemade pizza - one of my favorites is shrimp scampi, with garlic-butter sauce, sauteed shrimp, fontina/gruyere/mozzarella/parmesan cheese, garlic, and dill. I was planning on tamale pie for dinner, but I've got everything for the pizza - hmmmm....

Frank's Pizza in Eldersburg, MD makes a wonderful white pizza with an alfredo sauce, ricotta cheese, and mozzarella cheese. Sometimes I get mine with broccoli or spinach and mushrooms. Delicious!!

Also, have you ever had fruit pizza? Make it with Pillsbury sugar cookie dough sliced on pizza pan. When it's cool put cream cheese mixed with cool whip, and top with strawberries, bananas, kiwi, peaches, whatever fruit you favor. Then top with a glaze of orange juice, sugar, and corn starch. Chill and wow your family and friends! Better make two!
