Place gave me layer crumble instead of starter grow

I have 3 week old goslings. Normally, the bag I get is starter grow at the feed store.. They bag it themselves and in small print. Today, when I got home, I saw they gave me layer crumble. Could someone advise if I should give them layer crumble ? It looks the same but I don't think I should give this to them yet. Ugh. Thank you!

Is there some place closer? If so, buy from the closer store, and call the mill that you bought the crumble from and let them know you will be returning it next time you go through the area (unless you only go there to buy feed).

Yes, there is a big difference. The layer feed will have less protein, and the goslings need the higher protein to fuel their growth. It will also have much higher calcium, which the goslings don't need. Feeding excess calcium can cause bone issues, kidney failure, and even death.

So definitely return it and get a starter/grower feed for them.

Pyxis is right on the money. Layer has to much calcium and no enough protein.
