Placed My Order Today

Sweetgrass are one of my favorite colors. Here is a picture of a sweetgrass line we are working on. I hatched a lot of new poults this year. I am trying to get that nice metallic color in the black. The second picture is a hen from Porter. I don't see any metallic color in her black.

ColbyNTX do your turkeys have a good metallic color?

Those late season shipped poults do not handle the travel very well. I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I'm sure the poults were healthy before shipping but it can be rough on them. Not trying to defend anybody or say anybody was at wrong but that happen sometimes. Some of the showier turkeys don't get that full color until their second to third year. You can see my sweetgrass from him and they look just like the ones on the website except for the crappie pic taken in my dark barn with a cheap point and shoot. lol

I hate saying anything bad. I get shipped birds as part of my buisness year around. Most people do not ship turkeys late in the year. I ordered early and waited late in the year for my order. I would have thought the same as you if I did not here the exact same thing from others that I respect, that ordered last year. I am waiting to here what happens this year.

I don't know because they have never been out in direct sunlight. They are housed in my barn but it is always a bit dim in there. It is an old chicken house built in 1957. I will try to get a better look tomorrow. I just got them because I liked them. The one in your second pic looks to be very young. Mine were about 8 months before their colors really started to come in good. I bet they look even better as 2-3 year olds.
