Places in Kansas with Peachicks or eggs for sale!

I was reluctant to sell day old chicks last season just because they can be difficult for the less experienced, so I waited until they were older, but then they weren't "cute" and they were really hard to sell. Now I have most of my 2013 and no room to put more, lol, so need to figure out how to sell them and come up with a plan to sell any that I hatch in 2014.

@kuntrygirl
 , what did you sell your chicks and eggs for?

Chicks are $50.00 each
Eggs are $10.00 each

*They sold like hot cakes. ;)

I will probably do something similar this year.

Kathy, how well do yearlings ship via UPS?
Not Kathy but we have shipped yearlings both via USPS and Delta freight and they did fine. Of course the key is where the hubs are relative to the delivery point. With Delta Freight if you are both at airports that Delta uses, you can ship and pick up almost on the same day. You have to do a little research to know how USPS is going to move them. We have refused to ship to a couple of locations without acknowledgement from the recipient that USPS was most likely going to take longer than usual and that the health of the birds could be affected.

Let me know what you decide, we are looking and are in middle TN if you are close.

Being patient seems to be key. I have found two local sources near me that were either getting out or reducing their flock. A guy five miles away needed to sell down his flock and I was able to get two year old IB hens from him for $50. each, smoking deal. Another guy was getting out completely and was taking his entire flock to a local auction, that is where I got my BS and Pied three year olds for $85 and $65. Also got some Cameo hens for a little more there as well. Not the best condition, heavily plucked, frost bit toes, broken trains, broken beaks, but now in a better environment.

Last spring I went to the HOGBA auction near KC and at the end of the auction there was a beautiful Pied 2013 cock I got for $45, and the last bird to sell was another Pied 2013 I bid on because no one else was bidding I got for $20.

I can't wait to see how that beautiful Pied turns out in a couple of years, it has a white band that runs from wing tip across its back to wing tip. The guy selling out had a hen that has the same markings, I am not sure if it is a common marking but it is beautiful to watch it fly so pairing them up will be very interesting for me. The seller told me his name was Lucky Seven. The hen hatched six eggs and gave up on the last so he put Lucky in the incubator and hatched him.
