Plain looking Chickens

OK, here's my "plain" Amber Link! She has a chunk of her comb missing, don't know when that happened tho. Also, I have a production RIR in the pic.

I don't care if they're plain, their personality definitely shines through. They are some of the friendliest birds I have!

My bet is on an over zealous roo.

One of my roos jumped my favorite, sweetest, gentlest little hen right under my feet. When he did, he reached down and grabbed her by the bridge of her nose, right between the eyes.
A - hole!!

I didn't know how bad it was until after he hopped off and she shock herself, she flicked blood on my pants. It really started running and dripping off the end of her beak, so I took her in the house and cleaned her up, then put some antibiotic ointment on it. It also helped to stop the bleeding.
What a jerk!

lilcrow, your Gracie is beautiful. I have a bantam Black Mottled Cochin named Gracie and she is the sweetest chicken I have ever met. Well almost. I have several that are the sweetest things.

My Greta, supposedly a Black SexLink (yah, right!) is the most plain looking of my chickens. She is low on the pecking order, was lowest until I added two laying Lakenvelders. She let THEM know she had more status than THEY do. (But they're prettier, and Carl the handsome - and only - rooster likes them best.)

Here she is playing Tether Cabbage by herself.

Compared to Carl, she's sorta plain.

And compared to Patch, one of my cats, she's a pretty plain chicken.

It was hard to hear she wasn't going to make the grade, but you know what the say about beauty being in the eye of the beholder. I still look at her and think she's my winner. Maybe someday I'll get the nerve to say, "What the heck,

I'm gonna give her a whirl," and I'll take her to a show anyway.
It'll have to be sometime when I've got my thick skin on so I don't go home with my feelings hurt.

Your standard mutt chickens with some EE thrown in to make the yellow legs and very obvious white earlobes:
