Six degrees here this morning, the snow lies in a smooth, undulating, glistening layer, cake frosting on all of the structures, and jagged huge peaks left from plowing.

Oh dear @ 1mutt but had to laugh, surely spring is down there under all of that ice palace somewhere

Six degrees here this morning, the snow lies in a smooth, undulating, glistening layer, cake frosting on all of the structures, and jagged huge peaks left from plowing.

It got too warm too quickly for me. I had to come inside and cool down after walking Caleb. So I didn't work on the beds today.

Later in the afternoon I did some hand pruning of vines hanging from the trees, and wisteria roots popping up, here on the south side.

Chilly today, icy wind.

Here are some iris, the ones I transplanted during the heat of summer.

They shed all their leaves over the winter, but new ones are sprouting!

I gathered two Sussex eggs early, by 9am. Rahab was in the next box over.

Thursday I cleaned out the litter in Coop Deux

Put some in the bottom of a raised bed, covered with about 6" of soil

I'm going to top it off with well-rotted compost before planting.

Weeded the carrot bed

And thinned it out

Perfect for slow cooker recipes!

Despite my pacing myself I did get overheated, so I didn't work outside at all yesterday. It takes longer for my body to adjust to Springtime's warmer temps the older I get.

And this morning I saw

First iris bud! (sorry it's blurry)

And amaryllis are sprouting

Looks like you got done a good job work. We've got a ways to go before yard work, still have a couple of feet of snow covering pretty much everything, although the long and heavy rain we had last night really slumped the snow down a lot.
