Hi everyone! Just wondering what others do- do you give your chicks plain water or do you add probiotics/vitamins? We typically just have regular well water available to them here. A few times each week I put in hydro hen. Would you do that more often? Are added vitamins needed if they already eat a balanced diet of feed?

Thank you!

I’ve never added vitamins or supplements to my chicks water and they were fine. It seems to be a more common practice to add supplements in the U.S though. It just comes down what you think is best, they’re fine with plain water, but if you think they need a boost, who’s it going to hurt?

I do supplement newly arrived chicks (just to make sure stress won't get to them, as two moves in a day is pretty stressful) but after that, unless there's specific reason to (i.e. Corid), it's all plain water.

I did try ACV when I first got chickens but it just felt pointless, plus it made the waterer slimy.
