Plain water for shipped chicks

Do they look dead? That's often how they sleep. They sprawl out and look dead. Then after a while they hop up and run around some more. That's always good for at least one heart attack, walking in and thinking they are dead. It happens to all of us the first time we raise chicks.

I just don't know how much they are supposed to sleep

Mine alternated between sleeping/snuggling a lot and bursts of energy. They're still getting used to their surroundings so there's a lot going on for them.

When I got my first batch two things induced a heart attack:
- A full crop. I thought it was a tumor and was about to call my vet when I realized what it was.
- Dusting. It looks like they're having a seizure.
