BYC's 2026 Valentine's Day Hatch-Along

Pics
Well, the big Thursday Power Outage is finally over. :th It lasted 4 hours, not 5 as was predicted.

I decided to keep the eggs in the incubator, put in a hot water bottle, and cover the whole thing with blankets. I've done that before, but not for quite as long.
It actually went too hot the first half-hour, and I needed to open the door to ventilate. Which of course made it colder faster, but rather cold than too hot... After that it sank slowly, but not horribly. When I restarted it again after 4 hours it was on 89.6 F.

The worst part was waiting for it to be over. I walked my dogs twice. lol
This is literally my worst fear when hatching. :hugs

Of my test run I pulled 2. They were clear and no love dots day 1.5 the others, I am not sure yet, maybe soon.

If more are clear, I will not hunt down any hatching eggs a may wait until Easter.
I hope you have some growing!!!! Valentine hatch is so much fun!

I opened test eggs before the set date. All were clear but below are LO. I don't see bullseye so much, but the top one is dark where the white dot should be,

the second you can see the white dot abd a tiny red line under...these were 1.5 days in.

Eggs can be with out power for 12 hrs. I had a 16 hr power outage once, I stayed in bed with my eggs the whole time, they hatched.
That's brave. I tend to toss and turn and the dogs are on and off the bed all night. I would not be able to sleep

I usually look for more of a ring, like a bullseye . . . I have some eggs I was thinking about checking. When I do I'll post pictures if I see any fertilized eggs.

I might be in if my hatch rate on the current coturnix in my incubator really stinks. And if I can get new eggs in time. My current ones are due to hatch on the 20th so I should get a better idea then.
I'm out......I have 46 quail chicks in my brooder. I'm at max!!!!
