I have a bantam mottled trio and a Japanese black tail trio coming and need to make a small coop with run for each. Boy, it's difficult keeping all these birds separated. We have them in different coops with their own runs and run doors for differentiating free ranging.. aaaahh
Anyways, this is what I was thinkin. Somewhat like my cart coop
but double sized and runs opposite. It would measure 12x4 total. We came across a bunch more barn wood free to good home so that is the exterior. I wanted to do deep litter but I've seen this area flood a bit before so the coops will be 18" up. (only once in 5 years and only 6" or so of water)
I was thinking of giving the chickies access to under the coop too but now Im thinking that may be the perfect place to make a nest...right out of my reach!!
The back would have barnwood doors and the front would be removable wood windows. The rough opening would be lined with screen for spring - fall.
Is there a way I could configure this to take up less room? Each coop will be 3x5 with a 4x4 run. I don't have a lot of land and am limited on space. My hubby let me have three and it has quickly grown to 14!!! I know he'll be much happier if their presence is a bit understated
