OMG - - that is so cool ! ! what kind of caterpilla is that ??

Its a Tomato Hornworm! Evil tomato munching critters. ON its back however are the caccoons from the eggs of the Braconid wasp. They feed off the caterpillar, hatch and continue the cycle! A wonderful little cycle of life to watch!

TIME FOR THE FALL GARDEN - - - -
For the last two weeks, I have been trying to plant for the fall. I am trying to plant cucumbers, squash, and green beans.

NOTHING is germinating - - -

.

I am going to replant again this weekend. Are we too hot for germination ? ? Temps are running in the high 80's and low 90's.
My little plantin guide says I could plant these things in August, but still no germination. It doesn't normally take 2 weeks for germination.

I have been cheated so bad this year by mother nature. We broke records for cold this spring and records for heat this summer. It was like we went from 30 F to 100 F without any stops inbetween. I can't wait to see what mother nature throws my way this fall.

I have harvested a ton of OKRA this summer, but that has been about it !

here in Western Washington we have been cold and grey for most of the summer. I finally got a zucchini

So anyone in North FLORIDA or South Ga. planting for the fall garden yet? ? Am I just trying to do this to soon?

Hey MathACE- I am not in Fl, but So IN and I did plant a fall garden. I think that I jumped the gun a bit because only part of my spinach sprouted. My tomatos have not been very impressive this year, so I will wait to rip those up.

I am going to be planting some romaine and more spinach with a cold frame. Good Luck with yours.
