I am getting ready to plant my winter garden and started thinking it would be nice to add a few yummy things for the chickens. I was already planning to put in cabbage... but wondered if it would change the flavor of the eggs. I also have some pumpkin that I started.... any other ideas for good treats for the chickens that are easy to grow? Thanks!

I would grow a bunch of lettuce and spinach too. Also Swiss Chard, which my grandmother in Vermont used to harvest "under snow"...although if you're in Texas you probably won't be getting much snow...

For my winter crops I am growing ornamental cabbage, Swiss Chard, lettuce, peas, beans, pumpkins, and squash. I'm also growing for my rabbit too. We're growing sunflowers to harvest the seeds for us and the chickens too...not sure if you could get another crop of them in before it gets too cold where you are.
